The End is very much insight.

As the end of the semester is slowly approaching so is the book. My views regarding Mardi Gras and New Orleans in general has surely changed since I began to read this book.
"New Orleans is my home...." It doesnt matter where you live or how long you lived in one place. He considered New Orleans home to him and everything else. It grew on him and began to consider it home, because he felt like he was home, he felt safe. He knew the area well enough and even though he didnt know when he will come back it will always be the home he knows.

Mardi Gra or Bust

So, my personal views on Mardi has certainly changed over time, more so reading this book. First off, like the author of the book I never truly understood the concept of the Mardi Gras. Maybe the will change if I ever go to New Orleans. I do enjoy a good celebration, but to the point where you cant even remember what happened the next morning is quite ridiculous. Dont you want to remember what happened? You probably should.

Another thing that caught my attention in the book, is about polticians. The slogan," Vote for the Crook its important" You never thought you hear anyone say that in our neck of the woods. Although I am sure there "crooks", in the world that are politicians.I know they were discussing this in 1991, about David Duke, but his statement, "The only way he could lose is if he was caught with live boy or dead girl," I dont know if that person would have gotten my vote. New Orleans is one of a kind.I'll make sure to put on my bucket list.

Talk of the Campus

I had two ideas I was thinking of for talk of the town.
The first idea I had I would like to talk about the English Society, and up coming currents events.
and the second Idea I was going to talk about is Ethnic studies week. I attended the panel discussion on Wednesday and found it to be interesting and not something that every knows about.
If my first idea doesnt go well, I would like to discuss the Lap top requirement since alot of students go through the school. Find out what is so good or not so good about it in the first place.

Who wants to go to Mardi Gras?

Music is one of the most essentials things that keeps coming up as well food. It was a happier time before Katrina came dimished their sprits, but it surely didnt kill it. I love how he describes all the music and culture in the book. There is nothing is better than hearing music fills the streets and the aroma of food finding its way to you. "New Orleanians, poor, rich and in-between, white and black and in between, take their cooking and eating seriously," I love how lively the people are. They embrace their culture of food, dancing. They have such high spirits and just have no worries. It definitely makes me want to take a trip down there.
